Concept
Snitch loads a website as a first-time visitor, in a clean browser, and lists every third party the site contacts and every cookie it sets before the visitor consents. The list shows whether the site’s cookie banner holds tracking back until the visitor agrees.
Each site gets one of 4 verdicts. Trackers are weighted by how often they appear in privacy lawsuits.
The site is live. The scan is not open to the public yet.
History
- First version: a crawl of several pages per site, a test that clicks Reject on the cookie banner, and a PDF report.

Achievements
- Recognizes 64 trackers and 15 consent platforms, the companies that make cookie banners.
- The Snitch site sets no cookies and loads nothing from third parties. A self-test checks this.
